Meet Zara

Graduating in 2010 as a Chiropractor, Zara spent the next 15 years working in the North West UK helping a wide range of people with their body issues. She developed a special interest in managing the pregnant patient and their pelvic complaints, even basing her post graduate certificate on management of the pregnant patient.

Zara found hypnobirthing initially in 2018 when she had her first baby, Max, and following that wished to pursue it further. But being a busy mum running her own business meant becoming a hypnobirthing teacher got put on hold. Roll on to 2024 and she got a renewed passion for all things hypnotherapy when she used hypnobirthing to get her through a particularly tough C section with a transverse baby. She found that the techniques shed learnt all of those years ago became invaluable during her daughter stay in NICU and in getting her through some health complications she developed post birth.

She was unable to return to physical practice as a chiropractor and her mental health was in a downward spiral but she didn’t want her skills to go to waste. She decided to take back control and signed up to become and hypnobirthing teacher whilst also training to be a fully fledged hypno-psychotherapist.

Zara is passionate about helping women achieve the best birth for them and their babies and to help them feel empowered and in control when things go wrong. Ultimately she wishes to help people on all parts of their birth journey but for now is happy working with the prenatal period whilst she completes her hypno-psychotherapy certifications. After all she’s now a busy mum of two and needs to accept she isn’t superwoman!

Hypnobirthing Completely changed my Birth Journey

Zara's Birth Story

Zara found hypnobirthing during her first pregnancy when she attended a course with her sister who was also pregnant at the time. She found it an amazing experience and really looked forward to those weekly bits of ‘me time’.

Due to pre-eclampsia she ended up being induced at 38 weeks and although it was tough being admitted to the induction ward and hearing other mums labour in the curtained rooms around you she managed to still create a bubble of calm in her cubicle and hypnobirth her way freely through the first stages. So much so that her cervix dilated much faster than they anticipated and the following morning her first baby was born.

Unfortunately following the birth of her son, she suffered a severe post partum haemorrhage, but once again managed to keep her zen, even getting visits from other staff who hadn’t attended the birth, because they’d heard how calm she’d been throughout! Headphones in, affirmations and her favourite piano music playing,  just concentrating on breathing and keeping herself in her own bubble, trusting her body and the staff to do what needed to be done, made what could have been a harrowing experience much more positive.

Hypnobirthing in her eyes literally saved her life as panicking would have surely only caused her to lose more blood as it would have been pumping faster. Because she stayed calm she still managed to get skin to skin with her newborn whilst the doctors worked around them, and she still found the whole experience enjoyable regardless!
